About this course

This Information Governance training course has been specially commissioned to support those who work with clients personal information.

Information governance principles are essential training for all staff, in line with your policy and framework, it is a series of best practice guidelines and principles of the law, (especially with regard to the Data Protection Act 1998), that are to be followed by all NHS and health care organisations, companies and individuals.

It ensures that employees and those with access to data understand the responsibilities they have and covers current best practice guidelines in regard to protecting the personal information of clients.

Information governance also highlights the risks posed by keeping inaccurate or inconsistent records, along with the accepted best practice for record storage.

Poor record-keeping not only endangers the patient, but also hinders the treatment process and places your staff at risk of making flawed judgements based on the misinformation provided.

Employees must also be aware of patient information pathways, and the correct procedures for the provision of information prescriptions.

This extends to the policies surrounding Subject Access Requests (SARs), and the period within which they must be handled.
